Northerly Island is a park area located to the south-east of downtown Chicago, on a peninsula which extends into Lake Michigan.
The park contains wild prairie grasses, viewable from the meandering paths, as well as a spectacular view of the City skyline.
Ornamental structures are on display in the park.
The 7,500 seat Charter One Pavillion opened on Northerly Island in 2005, with concerts during the summer.
The 12th Street Beach and beach house are also on Northerly Island.
The original terminal building and air traffic control tower from Meigs Field still remain, it was an airport that was located on the island up to 2003.
Northerly Island park is owned by the Chicago Park District.
